# How to Use Inexra in Claude and ChatGPT

You can connect Inexra to Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code and ask questions about your clients right inside the AI app you already use. It reads the same data you see in Inexra: DMs and comments, contacts and deals, scheduled and published posts with their results, the content plan, and client reports. If you allow it, it can also prepare a reply, a deal change or a task, which waits in Inexra until someone on your team confirms it.

For an overview of what agencies ask it, see [Inexra in Claude](https://www.inexra.com/integrations/claude).

The connection uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard AI apps use to talk to other software. You add one address, sign in to Inexra, approve the app, and you are done.

## What you can ask once it is connected

Some questions agencies use it for:

- "Which of my clients needs attention today?"
- "Which posts brought in DMs that turned into deals for Bloom Yoga last month?"
- "How did reach and engagement compare to the previous 30 days for Acme Dental?"
- "Summarize the unanswered DMs for this client and draft replies in their brand voice."
- "What is in the pipeline right now, and what was won this quarter?"
- "Has the client opened the report we sent on Monday?"

The numbers come from the same code that builds Inexra's own dashboards and reports, so what the AI app tells you matches what you would show the client.

## Set it up

You need an Inexra account on a paid plan. In Inexra, open Settings, then Connected AI apps, and copy the address shown there. For most people it is `https://www.inexra.com/api/mcp`.

**In Claude** (claude.ai or the desktop app): open Settings, then Connectors, find Inexra in the directory and click Connect. Claude sends you to Inexra to sign in and approve it. If your Claude account can't use the directory, choose Add custom connector instead and paste the address.

**In ChatGPT**: custom connectors are added from Settings, under Apps & Connectors, with developer mode turned on in the advanced settings. Paste the address and follow the sign-in.

**In Claude Code**: run `claude mcp add --transport http inexra https://www.inexra.com/api/mcp`, then sign in when it asks.

On the approval screen you see what the app can read, what it can prepare, and which site you go back to after approving. Untick "Let it prepare actions for me to confirm in Inexra" if you only want it to read.

## Which clients it can see

The AI app sees the client workspaces you can open in Inexra, and only those on a paid plan with AI switched on in Settings, AI. A teammate who is limited to some clients connects with their own login and sees only those clients.

When you name a client in your question, the app looks up that workspace and reads from it. If you don't name one, it uses the workspace you last had open in Inexra.

## Actions wait for a person

Nothing the AI app does reaches a client by itself. When it prepares a DM reply, a comment reply, a deal change, a task, plan ideas, a report draft or a review request for a teammate, Inexra puts it in the Workbench review queue. It happens only when someone presses Confirm in Inexra, within 24 hours. The AI app is told this, so it will say the action is waiting for you rather than that it was done.

The app cannot publish or schedule posts, and it cannot set up anything that runs on a schedule.

## Disconnecting

Open Settings, then Connected AI apps, in Inexra and click Disconnect next to the app. Its access stops immediately, including any sign-in it had saved. You can also remove the connector inside the AI app itself.

## FAQ

### Does connecting an AI app cost extra?

No. It is included in every paid Inexra plan, and questions asked through Claude or ChatGPT do not use your Inexra AI allowance, because the AI app does the thinking on its own account.

### Can the AI app send messages to my clients?

Not by itself. It can prepare a reply if you allowed that when connecting, and the reply waits in Inexra's review queue until someone on your team confirms it.

### What happens to the data the AI app reads?

Inexra hands the app only what it asks for, for workspaces you can open, and only after you approved it. What the AI app does with that data afterwards is covered by its own terms and privacy policy. Inexra's privacy policy explains the rest.

### Why does it say a client workspace is not available?

Either AI is switched off for that workspace (an owner or admin can turn it on in Settings, AI), or the workspace is not on a paid plan. Ask the app to list your workspaces and it will tell you which applies.

### Which AI apps work with Inexra?

Any app that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in. Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code are the ones we test with.
