How do I report a month where social media results were down?

Lead with the number and own it, give the honest reason in one sentence, show the one thing that did work, and say what you're changing next month. Don't hide a drop in leads behind reach or engagement charts; clients notice, and it costs more trust than the drop itself.
Something usually did work, even in a weak month. "Only 9 enquiries, down from 23, but the two reels with a pricing question in the caption started 6 of them" gives the client a reason to stay and you a plan.
Avoid blaming the client even when part of it was theirs (late content, slow replies to leads). Put it in the plan as a request instead: "we need same-day answers on quote requests."
If drops are seasonal, say so with last year's numbers if you have them. A dip that happens every January is a very different conversation from one nobody expected.
